Police
in Calderdale are becoming increasingly concerned for the
whereabouts of Lisa Ambler, aged 34 years old from Halifax.
Lisa was reported missing by her boyfriend on 6th September
2003 and was thought to have been last seen at the beginning
of August. She had been sleeping rough with Dale, 29, in
a tent near woodland at Southowram Bank, Halifax.
Detective Insp Dick Nuttall, of Calderdale CID, said first
reports suggested Lisa had last been seen in Halifax town
centre, possibly near to the Woolshops on 31st of July. But
police inquiries suggested she could have gone missing some
time between the 6th and 12th of August. He said: "We
believe that on the night of the 6th of August, Lisa spent
the night at an address in Ripon Terrace, Boothtown, Halifax,
with members of her family but there have been no confirmed
sightings of her since 31st July 2003".
Lisa has no fixed abode but frequents the town centre of
Halifax on a regular basis where she can often be seen.
"Given the length of time that Lisa has now been missing,
we are very concerned for her welfare," said Detective
Superintendent John Parkinson, who is leading the enquiry
into Lisa's disappearance. "Lisa has not collected
her employment benefit now since the beginning of August.
This is extremely unusual, and is, in itself, cause for
concern because this is her only source of income."
Lisa is described as a white female, approx 5ft tall of
slight build with blue eyes. She has short brown hair along
with pierced ears and a nose stud.
Lisa
was last seen wearing a lilac coloured hooded sweat top
with silver writing on the lower front. She also had on
a short sleeved lilac blouse with a collar made of a jersey
material. Lisa was wearing light blue jeans with a stitched
seam down the front of them and also random pinstripes.
She also had on white training shoes with red flashes, which
were possibly 'Nike' and white socks.
Det Supt Parkinson said: "We, along with Lisa's family,
are concerned for her welfare. We want to appeal to anyone
who may have seen her recently, or know where she is, to
get in touch with us immediately.
Police are appealing for anyone with information as to Lisa's
whereabouts to contact them at Halifax Police Help Desk
